What is the ADK Family Camp?
Families of children with disabilities often have limited options when planning a relaxing, judgment-free vacation — which is why ADK Family Camp was created. Our camp offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the Adirondack wilderness, where families can truly unwind, spend quality time together, and feel understood.
Many of our campers have communication, social-skills, or behavioral challenges, and we provide an environment that is both supportive and accommodating. Surrounded by other families who share similar experiences, participants find comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging.
Our program welcomes families of all ages, with two sessions designed for school-aged children and one session dedicated specifically to young adults.

Think typical summer camp food! Breakfasts are pancakes or egg sandwiches depending on the day. Cold cereal is always offered as well as a hot cereal option. Lunches are a bagged lunch with choice of sandwich (PB&J, Turkey or Ham), fruit, chips & water. Dinners are served in the lodge and are the same each camp - hamburgers/hotdogs one night, tacos one night, and grilled chicken one night. There are two types of lodging available. For families of 4 or less, we have "Motel Rooms" available. These rooms have a queen bed and a set of twin bunk beds. For families of 5+, we have Cabins. Cabins have bunk beds and sleep up to 10. All rooms (motel & cabins) have a private bathroom & electricity. For more information, please visit the Beaver Camp website.

Services
We partner closely with families to understand each child’s unique strengths, interests, and needs. To support a smooth transition from home to camp, our team utilizes a range of tools—including social stories, visual schedules, token boards, and other evidence-based behavioral strategies—to bring structure to new or unstructured environments. By collaborating with families, we aim to reduce stress and build comfort as children settle into camp.
Each day includes optional multi-sensory activities, and a dedicated sensory area remains open at all times. Our structured programming is designed for the entire family, ensuring that every member—children and adults alike—can fully participate and enjoy a meaningful, positive camp experience.
